City Holiday: No Trash Collection Nov. 27-28:
In observance of Thanksgiving, city facilities will be closed Nov. 27-28. Thursday and Friday regular trash, recycling, brush and bulky collections will not occur, and regular collection schedules will resume Monday, Dec. 1.

By a vote of 9-0, the Irving City Council has voted to call a special election on the city’s future with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). The item will be placed on the election ballot in May 2026 allowing Irving residents to determine whether the city should remain a member of DART or withdraw and pursue alternative transit options tailored to the community’s needs.
Beginning Dec. 1, a portion of the Promenade sidewalk near the new Fire Station No. 8 site, 5601 Riverside Drive, will be closed for construction of the station boathouse.
The North Pole elves will drop off Santa’s Mailbox at the front lobby of Irving City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd., on Monday, Nov. 17. Families can drop off letters Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Friday, Dec. 12.
