Business Affairs' work is divided into three areas: Economic Development, Economic Incentives, and Real Estate Services.

Economic Development

The purpose of Economic Development is to create a viable city through the promotion, recruitment and coordination of new commercial, industrial, retail and residential development in the city and the retention and revitalization of existing businesses and neighborhoods. We are focused on comprehensive economic development throughout the city and those efforts are assisted though our partnership with the Greater Irving/Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce who provide recruitment and retention services.

We are also focused on several initiatives in targeted areas. Those targeted areas are:

Economic Incentives

The City of Irving provides a number of local incentives to attract business and support quality development. Targeted projects focus on areas, including: downtown revitalization, retail and commercial, residential development, to traditional industrial and manufacturing incentives. Additionally, the State of Texas provides services that are conducive to a vibrant economy through For more information, contact the Irving Economic Development Partnership at (214) 217-8484.

Real Estate Services

Real Estate Services assists internal city departments in securing necessary land and property rights for municipal facilities such as parks and libraries, as well as rights-of-way and easements for streets, drainage, water and sewer systems and other capital improvement program projects.

The office of Real Estate Services does not offer services for securing or selling personal real estate. The City of Irving does not provide personal real estate listings of for-sale properties.

Real Estate Services provides necessary acquisition and coordination services for implementation of Corridor Enhancement Projects and intergovernmental projects with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), North Central Texas Council of Governments (NTCOG) and Dallas County.

Real Estate Services also provides management of the city’s mineral interests on the various properties owned by the city.
