MacArthur Pump Station Project
The MacArthur Pump Station was initially built in the 1950s. That facility included four pumps and one, five million gallon concrete ground storage tank. The facility was also the original delivery point of treated water from the City of Dallas. Below is the original site plan for the facility. Click image for a larger view

Additional pumps and tanks were built to provide water to south and west Irving as the city grew. Now, much of the equipment is over forty years old and has reached the end of its useful life.
In order to increase the capacity and improve the reliability of the facility, the existing pump station and concrete tank will be demolished and the new MacArthur Pump Station will take its place. An artist rendering for the new facility is below.
The new MacArthur Pump Station will have a pocket park in front of it with demonstration garden of drought tolerant native plants. Construction for the new MacArthur Pump Station is scheduled to begin in January 2009, with completion scheduled for summer of 2010.
