Identity Theft, Forgery,and Credit Card Abuse are among the most difficult offenses facing citizens today. The financial devastation that is caused can linger mercilessly if allowed to go unchecked. In our ongoing efforts to combat these problems the following information is being offered by the Irving Police Department’s Forgery Unit. Much of the information that follows has been gathered and compiled from numerous law enforcement and government agencies who share a common interest and desire to actively prevent these crimes and lend success to investigative methods.

The most common financial crimes are the three listed above and often they are intermingled. Because of inherent problems many of the investigative forms, statements, affidavits and questions related to them are similar, however each must be dealt with separately.

Please remember it is VERY important that all instructions are followed regarding these forms and that each is completed thoroughly and accurately for the investigator(s) to perform extensive, detailed and well-documented investigation.
