Herbert A. Gears, Mayor Gears was elected to a three-year term as mayor in 2005. He previously served as a member of the City Council from 1998-2004 and is a financial consultant. Beth Van Duyne, Place 2 Van Duyne has been a member of the City Council since 2004. She is a research writer and serves on the council’s Public Works, Planning/Development and Legislative committees. Van Duyne is council liaison to the Health Board, Tax Increment Finance District Board, and Carrollton-Farmers Branch and Coppell ISDs. She is also an alternate liaison to the Parks and Recreation, Cable and Library boards. Allan E. Meagher, Place 3 Meagher has been a member of the City Council since 2004 and serves as deputy mayor pro tem. He is a manager for United Parcel Service. Meagher serves as a member of the council’s Audit/Finance and Planning/Development committees. He is council liaison to the Cable Television, and Preservation and Redevelopment boards. He is chairman of the council’s Public Works Committee and is a member of the Audit/Finance Committee. Rick Stopfer, Place 6 Stopfer was re-elected in May to serve another three-year term. He has been a member of the City Council since 1998, and is a retired automotive consultant. He serves as chairman of the council’s Planning/Development Committee and is a member of the Public Works and Legislative committees. He also serves as council liaison to the Museum Board and serves as a council representative to the Trinity River Corridor, Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition, and Regional Transportation Council.
