Adoption of an animal means responsibility for the care of the animal and meeting conditions set forth by the City Ordinance and public health laws.


Animal Shelter Hours

Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m  to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday – 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Closed Sundays and Holidays 


Fees:

The fees you pay at the time of total $60.00.  The $10.00 fee is a one time cost.  The $10.00 fee for rabies vaccinations is honored by most veterinarians in Irving.  The $40.00 fee shall be applied to the spaying or neutering cost.  This $40.00 cost does not represent the entire cost which the veterinarian may charge for spaying or neutering of an animal.  Any difference between the $40.00 you pay now and the veterinarian's charges are your legal responsibilities to pay.

Owner Responsibilities:

If you fail to have the adopted animal vaccinated for rabies within 5 days and spayed or neutered within 30 days, the City of Irving will file cases in Municipal Court based on Chapter 6 of the Irving Code of Civil and Criminal Offenses.

The spay and neutering of puppies and kittens shall occur at 6 months of age.
