Residents, businesses and landscape companies can purchase Mustang Mulch, mulch ground from brush debris collected from Irving residential customer, at the Hunter Ferrell Landfill.
The untreated mulch is available in 2-cubic-foot bags for $3 per bag or sold in bulk for $12 per yard.
The Hunter Ferrell Landfill is located at 220 W. Hunter Ferrell Road and is open from 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday through Sunday. It is closed on city holidays. Call (972) 264-3772 to make sure mulch is available.  | Mulching Benefits: - Prevents soil compaction and erosion

Mulching Guidelines: - Mulch all trees that are not grassed or thick ground cover.
- Trees and shrubs benefit from mulch spread at least as far as their outermost branched (the "dripline"). To prevent diseases and pest infestation, avoid piling mulch against tree trunks.
- Use layer of course mulch 3 or more inches in depth for weed control.
- Spread mulches under annuals after they are well established (4-6 inches tall).
- Water the ground thoroughly before and after applying a mulch cover.
