The involvement of community members as volunteers is an essential component of Solid Waste Services. There are many opportunities for individuals to get involved and make a difference in the community and environment. From Earth Day activities to becoming an Irving Master Composter, there’s always a need.

| | Irving's Master Composter Training Program Students will receive in-depth knowledge of backyard composting, problem solving techniques and instructions on how to compost with worms.  | Compost Now for Beautiful Garden Later
Fall composting can help ensure a bountiful garden next year. Two compost classes will be available during the month of October, at the Max G. Greiner Environmental Center, at the southeast corner of Conflans and Gilbert roads: Thursday, Oct. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. Click here to find out more. |
 | Home Chemical Collection Day
The City of Irving will host its annual Home Chemical Collection Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Irving Mall, on the northwest corner behind Dillards. This event is free for Irving residents, but a current driver's license and utility bill must be provided. For more information and a list of acceptable items, click here. |
