Curbside Recycling
 | Recyclables must be in blue recycling bags, which can be purchased at City Hall and most of Irving's Recreation Centers. For a complete listing of locations, click here. - Recycle only on designated recycling days. Call (972) 721-8059 to inquire about your curbside recycling schedule, or visit Irving's Interactive Maps. Click on the link below - Enter your address on the right side and select find address. Then select Recycle Zones under the Solid Waste Services folder and select update map.

Materials That Are Accepted At The Curb: - Aluminum and steel food cans; aerosol cans
- Plastic containers numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 Understanding Plastic Recycling
- Glass bottles and jars
- Paper
- Corrugated cardboard (flattened and put under the blue recycling bag)
| Plastics That Are Not Accepted At The Curb: - Plastic food containers #6, Styrofoam
- Plastic wrap and packaging materials
- Plastic bags of any kind (except for the recycling blue bag in which recyclables are placed)
- Bottles which have contained pesticides, motor oil, or other hazardous materials
Glass That Is Not Accepted At The Curb: - Light bulbs
- Plate glass, auto glass, ceramics, etc.
- Mirrors

Unacceptable Items: Recycling crews will not pick up bags that contain items unacceptable for recycling. The bags will be left at the curb and marked with a green or orange tag explaining why the bag was left and how to correct the problem. After correcting the problem, please remove the tag and set the bag out the next recycling collection day. *Residents must only use blue bags for recycling. Proper Set Out Tips: - Recyclables must be set out by 7 a.m. on recycling day.
- Be sure to flatten all boxes (un-flattened boxes will be treated as trash).
- Place recyclables at least three feet from the trash.
- Set trash and recyclables away from sprinkler systems.
- Bags cannot exceed 50 pounds.
- All acceptable recyclable items may be placed together in the same blue bags.
- Remove and discard plastic caps.
- Drain and rinse bottles and cans.
- No hazardous materials containers will be collected in blue bags (i.e., flammables, paint, pesticides, herbicides, poisons, solvents, and motor oil). To dispose of these items see Special Waste.
