Abandoned Vehicles
The City of Irving has ordinances that prohibit abandoned, inoperable and junk motor vehicles. All abandoned, inoperable, or junk motor vehicles on private property must be parked or stored within a completely enclosed structure. 

To report an abandoned, inoperable, or junk vehicle on private property, call the Inspections Department at (972) 721-4929 Available 24 hours a day. Please provide a description of vehicle and address.

Complaints about vehicles parked on public property are handled by the Police Department. To report an abandoned, inoperable, or junk vehicle that is on public or city-owned property call the Police Department at (972) 721-2518.

Removal of Animals on Roadway?
The City of Irving will remove dead or injured animals from city-maintained roadways. To notify Animal Services call 972.721.2256. After normal business hours, call 972.721.2661. If the dead or injured animal is located along a state highway call (972) 235-3314.

Street Maintenance and Repairs?
Residents can report potholes, street repairs, or other related problems to the City of Irving by calling 972.721.2201 during normal business hours.  Emergency or hazardous conditions can be reported to Police dispatch at 972.721.2518 after hours and on weekends.

Tree Trimming, Alleys, and Corner Visibility?

Trimming Trees on Public Property
The City of Irving trims tree limbs that extend over city streets when needed. Dead trees or those that pose a hazard on City property are removed by Street Maintenance crews. Residents and property owners are responsible for trimming shrubs and tree limbs that block sidewalks. Inquiries regarding tree trimming should be directed to Street Maintenance at 972.721.2201.

To report an emergency such as street blockages due to fallen trees call 972.721.2201 during normal working hours. After hours and on weekends call police dispatch at 972.721.2518.

Trimming Trees Near Utility Lines
You can call TXU at (972) 791-2888 to report any tree limbs that are growing too close to utility lines and need to be trimmed. To report a tree limb that has fallen on an electrical line, call 1-800-233-2133.
Public Alleys
The City of Irving maintains both improved and unimproved alleys. The property owner is responsible for the mowing of grass, trimming of tree limbs extending into the alley and keeping the alley free of debris. For more information about alley maintenance call the Public Works Streets Division 972.721.2201.

High Grass, Weeds, Trash and Debris
The City of Irving has adopted several ordinances that address property conditions in the city. These ordinances are enforced by the city’s Code Enforcement Division. City ordinance requires that property, adjacent alleys, easements and sidewalks be kept free from stagnant water, weeds, tall grass, rubbish and brush. Grass and weeds may be no taller than 12 inches. Residents with questions or who wish to report a violation can call 972.721.4929.

Corner Visibility
If you encounter an obstruction that blocks visibility at intersections or along City streets, call the City of Irving to investigate whether the obstruction can be trimmed or removed. You can call 972.721.2646 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to report a visibility problem or to ask for additional information
