September 11 Brings Special Recognition to IPD Communications Section

The Irving Police Department reached a milestone in its personnel history when it approached the issuance of badge number 911. The event was recognized with a very special presentation of Badge 911 from

the officers of the police department to the men and women of the Communications Section, who through selfless actions, professionalism and dedication have kept them safe on more than one occasion.

Prior to the horrific tragedy that changed our lives forever on September 11, 2001, the 11th of September was noted as a day to recognize emergency communicators and to thank them for their tireless efforts to ensure the safety of citizens, police officers and fire fighters nationwide. This special day was a most appropriate time to make such a meaningful presentation to some of the most important members of our police family.

The shadow box containing the badge and plaque was presented in a ceremony on 9/11/06 and will be prominently displayed in the Police Communications Section.
