Unified Crime Report - The Unified Crime Reporting (UCR) Program was conceived in 1929 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to meet a need for reliable, uniform crime statistics for the nation. In 1930, the FBI was tasked with collecting, publishing, and archiving those statistics. Today, several annual statistical publications, such as the comprehensive "Crime in the United States" are produced from data provided by nearly 17,000 law enforcement agencies across the United States. For a look at the Part 1 crimes reported by the Irving Police Department follow this link; UCR year to date - Irving (PDF)
Searchable Database - The Irving Police Department's Online Crime Stats - Searchable Database is intended to provide the public with the flexibility to easily access crime related information for the City of Irving. Users are strongly encouraged to read the text below in order to become familiar with the information being reported and how to use the system. The information contained in this database is updated weekly (Monday mornings) and includes data from the 365 days previous to each update.
Learn to use the system - This system is very easy to use. In the "Search For" box select the field you want to search from the drop down menu and enter the information relating to the field.
Example - SEARCH BY STREET NAME - To search for offenses on MacArthur, simply select "Street Name" from the drop down menu and enter "MacArthur" then click the Search button.
Example - SEARCH BY DATE RANGE -If you are wanting to search for offenses on MacArthur between a certain date range, simply select "Street Name" from the drop down menu, enter MacArthur, enter a date range (using the forward slash between each pair of digits) then click on the Search button.
Example - SEARCH BY BEAT - Large geographic areas within the city that define workload boundaries. Click here for a map of Irving's beat structure
The results of searches will appear below the search box sorted by offense, date and then time.
Please Note: addresses contained on this system are rounded to the nearest one-hundred-block, so the addresses seen on the report are not necessarily the actual address at which a report was from. For example: if an incident occurred at 305 N. O'Connor Road, it will appear on the report as 300 N. O'Connor Road. If the specific address of an incident is needed, contact the Irving Police Department Records Section to obtain releasable information/detail(s).
Dates and times listed note when the report was taken, it does not necessarily indicate the time of the offense. Additionally, the time noted is indicated in military time (see chart below for conversion if needed).
Additional information/uses of this data/database: (Online Crime Stats): This database was created as a tool or means to create awareness of crime in the areas which we live, work, learn and visit. Because of data-flow and coding issues, the data available in this database is not intended to be an “official” record of crime statistics nor intended for use litigation or any other legal or court proceedings. Users interested in official crime statistics for those purposes should submit a written open records request to the records section of the police department (972) 721-3791.
The Irving Police Department hopes you find this search capability useful.
