Zoning The Urban Development Division reviews all submitted plats and site plans for ordinance compliance, processes zoning change requests and variances, handles zoning ordinance updates, amendments, and changes, communicates technical requirements of city ordinances to customers, and prepares development cases for Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council meetings.

The City of Irving is divided into thirty-four (34) types of zoning districts. For a summary of the various zoning districts, or to inquire about a particular property’s zoning classification, please call Planning and Development at 972.721.2424.
