Zoning
The Urban Development Division reviews all submitted plats and site plans for ordinance compliance, processes zoning change requests and variances, handles zoning ordinance updates, amendments, and changes, communicates technical requirements of city ordinances to customers, and prepares development cases for Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council meetings. The mission of the Urban Development division is to guide a coordinated development of the city and its environment, which promotes the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community. For a summary of the various zoning districts, or to inquire about a particular property’s zoning classification, please call Planning and Development at 972.721.2424. You can also visit Planning and Development on the second floor of the Irving Civic Center. We will need the following information from you: The location of the property by address or legal description.
