Fire Department Provides Vial of L.I.F.E. Kits to Seniors

The Irving Fire Department is offering Vial of L.I.F.E. Kits free of charge as a public service to residents age 60 and older. The Vial of L.I.F.E.—Lifesaving Information For Emergencies—is a place for residents to store important medical information that emergency medical personnel, such as firefighters, paramedics and hospital staff, need during a time of crisis.

“It is very important that Irving seniors keep their health information readily available in case of an emergency,” said Fire Chief Mario Molina. “This program ensures that these necessary details will be accessible, regardless of the condition of the patient in need.”

Personal information should be kept up-to-date and accurate. The Vial of L.I.F.E. should be placed in a prominent spot in participating residents’ refrigerators. A Vial of L.I.F.E. magnet that is included in the kit should be placed on the resident’s refrigerator to notify medical personnel that the patient is a participant.

Kits are available at all Irving fire stations. Call (972) 721-2651 for details.
