Irving Named One of the Most Technologically Advanced Cities in the United States

The City of Irving has been named one of the most technologically advanced cities in the United States for the third consecutive year. Irving tied for fourth place for cities in the 125,000 to 249,999 population category in the 2007 Digital Cities Survey.

This is the first time the City of Irving has been ranked within the top five cities and was the only Texas city to be awarded in this category.

"This award is the result of hard work and many accomplishments achieved during the past 12 months," said Hong Sae, director of the Information Technology Department. "If not for the dedicated staff and the continuing support of Mayor Gears, the City Council and Irving residents, the Information Technology Department would not be what it is today. One of our goals is to ensure the City of Irving remains a cutting-edge city, and we will continue working to take it to the next level."

The survey, which was conducted by the Center for Digital Government based in Sacramento, Calif., recognizes cities for their use of technology in areas such as resident services, public safety, strategic growth plan, architecture and infrastructure development, project and document management and online forms.

Sae and Councilwoman Beth Van Duyne accepted the award Nov. 15 at a ceremony in New Orleans.
