No Insurance If you were issued a citation for failure to maintain financial responsibility and you in fact were covered by an insurance policy at the time the citation was issued, you may present proof of insurance to the court in order to have your citation dismissed. The proof of insurance must consist of one of the following two documents: 1) A motor vehicle liability insurance policy, including the declaration page from the policy. Please be aware that presenting the insurance card that you keep in your glove compartment is NOT sufficient proof for the purpose of dismissing your citation.
2) You may also present a certificate of self-insurance previously issued to the driver or to the vehicle owner that was valid at the time the offense is alleged to have occurred to have your citation dismissed.
