- Student must be officially withdrawn from the last school attended, and at least 17 years old.
- If 17 years of age, the student must have a notarized letter of permission from parent or guardian.
- A student may enroll at age 16 if ordered by a judge; the student must have the court order to apply.
- The student must have current identification, such as a driver’s license or student I.D.
Classes
The Irving Public Library is proud to be the home of one of the most successful GED programs in Dallas County.
Free classes are offered by tutor Leotis Fenceroy at the East Branch, in the second-floor Conference Room, during the following times:
Tuesday, noon to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
GED program registration and assessments take place on Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 and 4 p.m. only. All new students must take a placement test before instruction begins. This enables the instructor to prepare a plan for the student to successfully complete the coursework as quickly as possible. Expect your initial session to last about two hours.
The time of completion depends on the work of the instructor and student. Timed practice tests, similar to those given at testing centers, determine when the student is ready to take the exam.
You may call (972) 721-3776 to leave a message for Mr. Fenceroy, but due to the demands of his schedule, it is recommended that you visit the library during the above hours.
