The file contains a research paper entitled “The West Irving Improvement Association.” The paper (42 pages) was written as part of a fieldwork graduate school project reporting on the development, and activities of the West Irving Improvement Association in the mid-1960s. The Association was made up, primarily, of African-American residents from the Bear Creek community. The group worked for annexation of Bear Creek into the city of Irving, school integration, and for the general advancement of the Bear Creek area. The students doing the fieldwork were from the University of Texas. The paper was written in August 1967 by Carroll Brown, Jaclyn Miller, Bob Stewart, and Miriam Wilson.
