Description

Included in the material is an address book that contains notations and remarks, which helps identify the relationship of the people listed to the Carson. Also included is a ledger book. The ledger is primarily blank, but there are a few entries from 1901 and 1903 regarding the pasturing of animals. Inside the ledger were a myriad of loose documents. Many of the documents are receipts of various types such as: Lone Star Cotton Gin in Briscoe, Texas, October 1933; a receipt from George J. Ermlich, Assayer, Chemist and Ore Shippers’ Agent detailing the amount and value of gold and silver per ton mined by The Golden West Mining Co. in late 1912 and 1913; a Surplus Cotton Tax-Exemption Certificate, 1934; a promissory note from L.M. Carson to the First National Bank of Canadian for $37,  March 10, 1931; a tax receipt from Hemphill County, n.d.; an American Hereford Record Certificate of Entry to certify the pedigree of a cow, 1912; and a Postal Savings Plan for the Purchase of United States Defense Savings Bonds booklet, 1941.  The Monthly Ledger contains advertisements for a couple of Irving businesses.
