The donor, Jack Veach, was a member of the Irving High School graduating class of 1964. Lindalu Montgomery was crowned Miss Irving for 1963. She is Jack Veach's cousin.
The Veach family, Jack, Sr. and wife Katy and sons Jack, Jr. and Mack, moved to Irving in 1950. After living on English Street they rented a home from Charles Schulze Sr. at 203 S. Iowa (O’Connor) next to Chism-Smith funeral Home. When the city cut Second Street through to the west the house at 203 was in the middle of what would be Second Street, so the house was moved to Rolston Street. In 1955, the Veach family moved to River Oaks Drive. Jack Veach, Sr. owned a Texaco station on MacArthur from 1968-1981.
