The file is made up of land transaction documents. There are three Abstracts of Title regarding land in the John C. Reed survey. The abstracts include warranty deeds, right-of-way grants, wills, liens and lien releases, rental agreements, property descriptions, deeds of trust, and inventory and appraisals.
The abstract dated July 1, 1888, covers transactions from 1851 to 1888. The November 3, 1890, abstract covers the transaction in which John H. Mosher purchases the land from Joseph Royer. The April 21, 1931, abstract material deals with transactions that occurred while J. H. Mosher owned the land.
Included are a loan certificate to J. H. Mosher for a loan from Middlesex Banking Company; property tax receipts to J. H. Mosher for the tax years 1917-1931; a poll tax receipt, 1908; payment due notices to J. H. Mosher; and payment received receipts.
Also included in this file is a copy of a letter from J. H. Mosher to his brother, William Mosher, in Illinois, 1899.
This file contains a warranty deed between Edmund and Cora Caster and Henry Caster for parts of three lots in the Old Town of Irving plat, 1919; a warranty deed between Henry Caster and Frank R. Mosher for the property mentioned above, 1920; and a warranty deed between Thomas H. Carpenter and P. E. Lear for two pieces of land containing forty acres in the John C. Reed survey, 1890.
The donor, Hazel Pauline Mosher Shores, a member of the Mosher family, was born September 8, 1913, in Dallas. She was raised in Irving and was the owner of Flowers by Shores in Irving. She served as president of the PTA and the Business and Professional Women of Irving. Mrs. Shores died in Florida May 4, 1996, at the age of 82. She is buried at Restland in Dallas.
Frank R. Mosher, son of John H. Mosher, opened a gas station in Irving during the 1920s. The station was located on the north side of Irving Boulevard, east of Main Street. Frank Mosher married Mary Smith, daughter of Union Bower pioneers William and Virginia Smith, in 1908.
