We are responsible for coordinating activities that occur before, during, and after a natural or man-made disaster. There are four critical phases to prepare for and recover from a disaster: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. The information will better prepare homes and businesses for surviving any emergency event.

March 2-8: Severe Weather Awareness Week
Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne recently issued a city-wide proclamation declaring March 2-8 as Severe Weather Awareness Week to bring attention to the importance of preparing for uncertain weather conditions.
Each year, changing seasons brings the potential for violent weather and quickly changing conditions in Texas. The city, along with the State of Texas and FEMA coordinate to urge citizens to be prepared for severe weather at the beginning of severe weather season.
