Irving Citizen Advisory Commission

The City of Irving formed a residents’ group to advise staff and the City Council as to various transportation alternatives and opportunities concerning State Highway 161. City officials focused on SH-161 because it is an important corridor that will ease congestion and stimulate economic development throughout Irving.

The Irving Citizen Advisory Commission (ICAC) will focus on extending the southern limits of the proposed termination of the SH-161 interchange at Interstate 20 and the extension of the roadway north of the intersection of State Highway 190 and Interstate Highway 35 East in Carrollton.

The goal of the ICAC is to assist the city in determining the most appropriate design features of SH-161, including points of entry and exit, within the city limits of Irving.
