    The exhibition aims to explore the idea of travel and American culture through interactive photography. Vernacular photographs taken in the 1950s and ‘60s are featured and paired with contemporary photographs Natalie Slater shot along the modern day Route 66, from the same locations and vantage points. The images are backlit and overlaid inside interactive light boxes to create a unique road trip experience, with a view towards both past and present. Exhibit located in Carpenter Lobby. Gallery Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday

  2. George Washington Slept Here, MainStage

    July 20, 2018, 7:30 PM - August 4, 2018, 9:30 PM @ Dupree Theater

    Directed by B.J. Cleveland, MainStage brings a classic comedy by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman to the stage. The central figure in the story, Newton Fuller, just wants “a little place in the country to call his own.” Despite disgust from his city-slicker wife and daughter, Newton drags his family out to their own personal “Green Acres,” a wreck of a homestead with broken windows, falling plaster and a cow in the kitchen. But with a little bit of faith and a lot of guts, maybe Newton can make this house into a home?

    Two- and three-dimensional artworks by artists of all ages. Prizes are presented in three categories: Youth, Nonprofessional and Professional with an overall “Best of Show” prize also awarded. In celebration of the iconic Route 66, participating members have been invited to create artwork that explores the sights and history along America’s great Mother Road and/or the theme of road trips and summer vacations.   1. Poolside Teen Jam

    Middle and high school students are invited to create fun memories with friends at Poolside Teen Jam events planned this summer. Hosted by Lively Pointe Youth Center, the Teen Jams combine music, food, friends and water into a party atmosphere. Admission is free for students with a valid IPAR card or school ID.

    In case of inclement weather, the Splash Jam will be canceled.
