    The exhibition aims to explore the idea of travel and American culture through interactive photography. Vernacular photographs taken in the 1950s and ‘60s are featured and paired with contemporary photographs Natalie Slater shot along the modern day Route 66, from the same locations and vantage points. The images are backlit and overlaid inside interactive light boxes to create a unique road trip experience, with a view towards both past and present. Exhibit located in Carpenter Lobby. Gallery Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday

  3. Memories in the Making Exhibition

    August 25, 2018, All Day @ Irving Arts Center

    Artwork by patients at Villages on MacArthur who participate in the wellness program “Memories in the Making®” (MIM) will be featured in this exhibition. MIM is an art program developed by the Alzheimer’s Association that recognizes that even those who suffer significant cognitive impairment related to Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia can still communicate through art. Exhibition located in the front foyer/hallway gallery. The exhibition will be accompanied by a reception on Sept. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. Gallery Hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon., Tues., Wed. and Fri.; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thur.; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat.; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sun.

    Do you love browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes or cooking techniques? Do you enjoy sampling and sharing new dishes? Then hang onto your spatula! We pick the cookbook; you choose and make a recipe. Then we all partake. You don’t have to be a gourmet chef to participate. Novices will have the chance to learn from more experienced cooks, and the experienced cooks will have a chance to show off and share their amazing skills. Stop by the Valley Ranch Library Reference Desk to register for the book club and pick your recipe.

  1. Girls Who Code: Animation! [Registration Event]

    Registration runs Aug. 24-30, and will close early if all open slots are filled. Young women in grades 6-12 are invited to register for the Girls Who Code Animation class taking place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on the following dates: Sept. 1, 15, 29, Oct. 13, 27, Nov. 10 and 24. Students must register at the Valley Ranch Information Desk in person, no exceptions. Additional rules and registration guidelines apply. Please read the Girls Who Code Guidelines - Animation document attached to this event entry before committing to the class.
