  1. Beat the Heat with a Cool Cat! Free Adoptions All July

    July 3, 2018 - July 31, 2018 @ Irving Animal Care Campus

    The Irving Animal Care Campus is filled with great pets looking for their dream homes. Animal Services is extending its Adopt-a-Cat month special, waiving adoption fees for cats one year and older; kittens are available for a $50 adoption fee. Vaccinations, spay/neuter, leukemia test and microchip included with all cat adoptions.

    All adoptions must be processed 30 minutes before closing.

AquaStars

    The program is custom-designed for children with special needs, ages 18 and younger. AquaStars participants must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. On a monthly basis, AquaStars provides special needs children with an opportunity to sidestep crowds and experience the excitement of play at the West Irving Aquatic Center. Participants only pay the standard facility admission rate for the program.

    The safety of AquaStars guests is paramount to program organizers. The West Irving Aquatic Center’s pool features include an accessible ramp, accessible chair lift and water chair, making it an ideal location for the AquaStars program. The city will provide the appropriate lifeguard and staffing ratios, as well as access to waterproof wheelchairs.

    The exhibition aims to explore the idea of travel and American culture through interactive photography. Vernacular photographs taken in the 1950s and ‘60s are featured and paired with contemporary photographs Natalie Slater shot along the modern day Route 66, from the same locations and vantage points. The images are backlit and overlaid inside interactive light boxes to create a unique road trip experience, with a view towards both past and present. Exhibit located in Carpenter Lobby. Gallery Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday

    Four Seasons Markets is a European-style market where ranchers, farmers, specialty food producers and artisanal craftsmen can interact with customers and other vendors in a colorful, exciting, family friendly atmosphere that mimics the village markets popular throughout Europe. Shop the market every Saturday, then cool off while browsing the galleries. Farmers Market is located in the North Parking Lot of the Irving Arts Center.

    The International Organization of African Nurses is hosting a launch party at Irving Arts Center.
