Aquatics

  1. Red Cross Lifeguard Class

    March 12, 2018 - March 14, 2018 @ North Lake Natatorium

    Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.

    Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from 7 to 10 feet depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.

    Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

  1. Irving Tennis Classic

    March 12, 2018 - March 18, 2018 @ Four Seasons Resort and Club

    The Irving Tennis Classic (ITC) event returns March 12-18 to the Four Seasons Resort and Club, 4150 N. MacArthur Blvd., for its annual stop on the ATP Challenger Tour. The ITC and the tour feature professional tennis competition for current and future stars from around the world. Players will compete to earn valuable ATP Ranking points and prize money of $150,000. Spectators will have exciting opportunities to see and meet tennis players, coaches and many others who share a love of tennis. The City of Irving, ITC sponsors, and the Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club at Las Colinas, are pleased to welcome tennis fans across Texas and the world for this international tennis event.

  1. Basic Computer

    This class is for adults who have had no experience with computers. Topics include how to use a keyboard and a mouse, as well as other beginning computer skills. Please take this course before you attend any of the others offered. Classes are limited and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to class time. No registration is required. Classes are in the computer lab unless otherwise noted.

    Let author, homesteader and self-sufficiency expert Deborah Niemann put you on the path to successful gardening. The author of the books Homegrown and Handmade, EcoThrifty, and Raising Goats Naturally, Niemann teaches courses in sustainable agriculture at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She runs a homestead in Illinois where she raises sheep, pigs, cattle, goats, chickens and turkeys for meat, eggs and dairy products, and cares for organic gardens and orchards.
