  1. Red Cross Lifeguard Class

    May 4, 2017 - May 7, 2017 @ Heritage Aquatic Center

    Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.

    Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from a 7- to 10-foot depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.

    Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

    Lyric Stage presents the world premiere of this historic Texas tale told through the words and music of Grammy Award winner Larry Gatlin. “Quanah” is the musical journey of the Comanche chief Quanah Parker and his mother Cynthia Ann Parker, who was kidnapped as a girl and raised by the Comanches as one of their own.

    May 4, 2017 Update: Due to the recent tragic event at North Lake College, Bicycle Fest has been cancelled. A future event date will be determined.

    Celebrate bicycling in Irving and Bike to Work Week by attending Irving’s Annual Bicycle Fest. Join in the activities with a group ride, participate in the Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo, visit with vendors that specialize in bicycling information and equipment, receive an “on-the-spot” bike check, see unique cycling groups, or just sit back and enjoy some great entertainment while grabbing some food from a food truck.
