    As Bonnie and Clyde approached the intersection of what is currently Esters Road and S.H. 183, law enforcement officers led by Dallas County Sheriff "Smoot" Schmidt opened fire. However, it wasn't until the following year that the outlaws would meet their ultimate demise. What went wrong? Residents 50 and older are invited to this presentation by Dallas historian Brad Hamilton.

Parks and Rec - Aquatics

  1. Red Cross Lifeguard Class

    April 20, 2017 - April 23, 2017, All Day @ Heritage Aquatic Center

    Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.

    Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from a 7- to 10-foot depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.

    Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

    Join Irving’s Be Green team at Earth Day Texas, an annual free three-day festival that seeks to elevate environmental awareness in North Texas. Through exhibits, entertainment and education for all ages, the community is inspired to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. Concessions will include everything from organic and vegan food options to favorite festival treats. Attendees additionally are encouraged to take the train (TRE/DART) to Fair Park.
