  1. Class Full: Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Systems Class

    February 6, 2017, 6:30 PM - February 9, 2017, 9:30 PM @ Police and Fire Training Academy

    Note: This class is full; entrants accepted only for waiting list at this time.

    Open to all females ages 10 and older living, working or visiting the DFW area, the focus of the RAD class is realistic self-defense techniques. The course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, and then progresses to the basics of hands-on self-defense training.

    RAD is designed to engage participants in a series of hands-on, realistic, self-defense tactics and reinforce the power of the voice.

    The course is taught by Irving police and detention officers who are nationally certified RAD instructors.

    A parent/legal guardian must be present the first day of class to sign waivers for participants under 18 years old, unless prior arrangements are made. Participants should bring their own snacks and drinks during the class. Space is limited. Walk-ins are not accepted; all participants must preregister.

  1. Drip Irrigation: Hands-On

    Water slower, deeper and more efficiently with every drop. Convert spray heads, and watch the sprinkler system save money from this hands-on drip conversion class. Students will learn how to install drip irrigation tubing from the faucet or how to convert an existing zone system to drip. Drip irrigation is the most efficient irrigation method, and it is essential to sustainable landscapes. Drip irrigation for foundation watering also will be covered.
