February 12, 2017, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Irving Heritage House
The Irving Heritage Society recreates a 1914 party hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Percy Schulze with its annual Vintage Valentine Tea. The public is invited to share in this special event from 2 to 4 p.m. Reservations are not required, and admission is free.
Just as in 1914, there will be strings of hearts from the chandeliers, and the lace draperies at the windows and dining table will have festoons of hearts and arrows. The tea recipes have been checked, the silver polished and the Irving Heritage Society Sweetheart is secretly being selected as the organization prepares for this favorite traditional event.
The newly rebuilt Mary’s Playhouse also will be open for viewing. It is located just behind the Heritage House in the garden area. Guests young and old are invited to visit the Playhouse to learn more about the Schulze children and Irving's history.
February 1, 2017 - February 28, 2017, All Day @ Irving Arts Center
February 12, 2017, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Suite 200
Every second Sunday, Irving Arts Center hosts Family Funday ? a free program that’s fun for the whole family. Drawing on inspiration from “Portraits of Freedom” (on display in the Dupree Lobby), create a memory through the art of portrait-making.
February 12, 2017, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM @ Heritage Aquatic Center
The program is custom-designed to children with special needs, ages 18 and younger. AquaStars participants must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. On a monthly basis, AquaStars provides special needs children with an opportunity to sidestep crowds and experience the excitement of play in an indoor, 20-yard, temperature-controlled lap pool. Best of all, participants will only pay the standard admission rate.
The safety of AquaStars guests is paramount to program organizers. The Heritage Aquatic Center’s pool boasts features including an accessible ramp, accessible chair lift and water chair, making it an ideal location to pilot the AquaStars program. The city will provide the appropriate lifeguard and staffing ratios, as well as access to waterproof wheelchairs.
