  1. One District One Book: The Mouse and the Motorcycle Movie Matinee

    April 27, 2018, 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM @ West Irving Library Meeting Room

    What happens when a mouse discovers a motorcycle just his size, and it's bright and shiny, red and fast? Find out by reading this year's One District, One Book selection, The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Newbery Award-winning author Beverly Cleary. Today, we'll watch a movie based on the book.

    From 4:30-6 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, make mouse crafts and read all about Ralph and his escapades in specially-reserved areas of the libraries:
    East Branch Library, 440 S. Nursery Drive: Includes watching the movie adaptation.
    South Irving Library, 601 Schulze Drive.
    West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Road.
    From 7-8 p.m., Valley Ranch Library at 401 Cimarron Trail will have a special session of Family Storytime, with parents welcome.

    One District One Book is a collaboration with the Irving Independent School District and Irving Public Library. For grades K-5.

  2. Poetry in the Park: A Celebration of National Poetry Month

    April 28, 2018, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Centennial Park

    Gather the entire family, pack a picnic, a blanket, and your favorite poems, and enjoy readings and performances by local poets.

    In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held in the South Irving Library Program Room at 601 Schulze Drive.

  1. Girls Who Code

    April 28, 2018, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM @ Valley Ranch Library Meeting Room

    Girls in grades 6-12 are invited to join up every other Saturday and learn how to code! We'll learn HTML, SQL, JavaScript and CSS for websites, animation and more. Space is limited and registration is required. Sign-up for this class begins on April 23 at the Valley Ranch Library Information Desk. Participants must bring their own laptops.
