  1. Red Cross Lifeguard Class

    May 24, 2018 - May 28, 2018 @ North Lake Natatorium

    Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.

    Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from 7 to 10 feet depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.

    Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

  2. Irving Concert Series 4 Kids

    May 25, 2018, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Irving Soccer Complex

    This fun music series is designed specifically for our smallest attendees. The Irving Concert Series 4 Kids brings live entertainment to toddlers and preschoolers! These Friday morning concerts feature fun performances by popular children's entertainers. Children ages 5 and under are invited to sing, dance and learn at these interactive shows. Limited covered seating is available, and attendees are encourage to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Restrooms are available on-site; smoking is prohibited. Parking and admission are free to all shows; all children must be supervised by an adult. In the event of inclement weather, shows will be moved to an indoor location. Check the website for a schedule of performers.

  3. Memorial Day - No Trash Pickup / City Offices Closed

    May 28, 2018, All Day

    In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no residential trash, curbside recycling or brush collection May 28. In addition, the following facilities will be closed:

    • City Hall
    • Heritage Aquatic Center and North Lake Natatorium
    • Hunter Ferrell Landfill
    • Irving Arts Center
    • Libraries
    • Recreation centers

    All offices and services will resume normal business hours on May 29.

  4. Dream Court Dedication, Ribbon-Cutting and Shoot-around

    May 29, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Northwest Park Recreation Center

    Following the ribbon-cutting, youth can participate in a shoot-around with Irving Police. Snacks and drinks for the children will be provided.

    Nancy Lieberman Charities has teamed with Sport Court, the City of Irving and the Irving Police Department to provide a Dream Court to foster the relationship between officers and the communities they serve. Located at Northwest Park, 2800 Cheyenne St., this Irving Dream Court is the 56th in the nation.

    Dream Courts are top-quality, multipurpose play spaces built in underserved communities so children have a safe area to shoot hoops, socialize and learn about teamwork and good sportsmanship.

    Middle and high school students. Kick off the summer with some food, games and fun. Activities include outdoor games and attractions, henna tattoos, air-brush art and refreshments.

  7. Diabetes Prevention Class

    May 31, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Heritage Senior Center

    Designed for those diagnosed prediabetic, this class educates attendees on how to prevent the disease. Open to adults 18 and older.
