April 8-14 | Community Development Week
The Housing and Human Services Department will celebrate National Community Development Week, April 8-14, by hosting several events to showcase its accomplishments and educate the residents on the importance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
- Fan Drive: Along with a proclamation declaring the National Community Development week, the department will be accepting donations of box fans prior to the City Council meeting on April 5. Donations also will be accepted 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 2-14 at Housing and Human Services, City Hall first floor, 825 W. Irving Blvd. Fans will be donated to local social service agencies.
- Home Improvement Workshop: Join us from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 11 in the Central Library Auditorium, 801 W. Irving Blvd. Residents can hear home maintenance tips, enjoy hands-on demonstrations, and visit various information tables.
2012 Community Development Block GrantsCommunity Development Block Grant applications are now being accepted from nonprofit agencies to assist programs that benefit Irving's low- to moderate-income residents.

Back on Track Homeless Prevention Program
Homeless and near-homeless residents may qualify for financial assistance through the Back on Track program. Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Back on Track offers short-term rental assistance, utility payments and/or security/utility deposits to qualifying applicants. For assistance, call the Housing and Human Services Department at (972) 721-2667.
