Work to Begin on Urban Center Lift Station

Las Colinas Urban Center, Irving, Texas

The City of Irving is investing in its future by improving the wastewater infrastructure in the Urban Center. In January, the Irving City Council awarded the referenced project to Crescent Constructors Inc. in the amount of $11,265,000. The Urban Center Lift Station is located at 5191 Riverside Drive. The facility will protect Irving’s wastewater collection system when flooding occurs on the Elm Fork Trinity River.

Flooding events along the Elm Fork Trinity River in 2015, and resulting backups from the Trinity River Authority's (TRA) wastewater collection system, damaged Irving’s wastewater collection system in the Urban Center and continued to cause concern for future operations. The floodwaters and backups over pressurized Irving’s pipes and manholes causing infrastructure failures. The Urban Center Lift Station is designed to alleviate these issues.

Construction of the Urban Center Lift Station is anticipated to begin this spring and last for approximately 18 months. As a result, Campion Trail will be closed approximately 1,000 feet south of California Crossing Road for the duration of construction. The existing California Crossing Park parking lot at Riverside Drive and Las Colinas Boulevard, adjacent to Campion Trail, also will be closed during construction. Alternate parking for Campion Trail will be available at Bird’s Fort Trail Park, 5756 Riverside Drive.
