Mark your calendar, the 2018 dates for all citywide events have been released! The Irving community will have over 20 opportunities to take part in fun activities, including concerts, festivals, parades, fireworks displays and much more. Admission is free for all listed events. See below for an overview of what is coming:
Martin Luther King Jr. ObservanceSunday, January 21The Irving Parks and Recreation Department and the Irving Arts Center present a theatrical performance examining the Freedom Riders' movement and Dr. King's influence on the era.
Frost FestSaturday, January 27Winter returns to Irving with a fun festival, featuring a snow tubing hill, skating rink, train rides, puppet shows and more. New for 2018, explore a giant maze, sled down the toboggan slide and meet KERA Kids television show character Nature Cat.
Citywide Egg HuntSaturday, March 24This annual family tradition offers egg hunts for children ages 10 and under, photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, and craft activities.
Irving Concert Series - Spring EditionFriday evenings, April 6, 13, 20 and May 4, 11, 18Head to Whistlestop Plaza in the Heritage District to enjoy outdoor performances by area bands, food trucks and lawn games.
Irving Concert Series 4 KidsFriday mornings, May 4, 11, 18, 25Children ages 5 and under are invited to sing, dance and play at a special event for little ones. Enjoy craft activities, performances by children's entertainers, and photo opportunities with characters from popular children's television shows.
Taste of IrvingSaturday, May 19Irving restaurants, popular food trucks and culinary demonstrations come together at this foodie festival, which also offers live music and a family fun zone.
Canal FestSaturday, June 9Celebrate the diversity of our community with performances by over 20 groups representing cultures from around the world on multiple stages. Become immersed in the music, dance, food, art and activities of over a dozen countries on six continents.
Children's Day at the TheatreTuesday, June 19Introduce school-aged children to the theater with an entertaining marionette puppet show. Due to the popularity of the 2017 event, there will be two showtimes available.
Independence Day ParadeWednesday, July 4Irving's largest parade features community groups, spirited families and floats. A community reception follows, with music, activities and complimentary watermelon.
Independence Day Fireworks ShowWednesday, July 4Thousands of people head to Las Colinas for an evening of food and fun, with wet and dry inflatable rides, live music and a fireworks display shot from the center of Lake Carolyn!
Laughs by the LakeFriday, August 31An evening for adults, this outdoor comedy show features national comedians bringing big laughs for Labor Day weekend. Attendees also vote for the best local comedian in the Comedy Showcase.
Irving Main Street EventFriday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22The longest-running festival in Irving returns with two days of music, food and entertainment for all ages. The Manifolds on Main Street car show attracts over 80 competitors, and local vendors showcase their crafts.
Irving Concert Series - Fall EditionFriday evenings, October 5, 12, 19In response to resident requests, the concert series will now include shows in the fall! Bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the music and gourmet food trucks.
Holiday ExtravaganzaSaturday, December 1A festive community parade through the Heritage District is followed by family activities, a stage show, the official lighting of the city tree and a fireworks display.
Participate in 2018 Citywide Events
The vendor application for those interested in selling food, merchandise, or providing information (including non-profit organizations) will be posted online Monday, February 5, for all citywide events with vendor opportunities.Entry forms for the 2018 Independence Day Parade will be posted online in May, and entry forms for the 2018 Holiday Extravaganza Parade will be posted online in October.
