Volunteers needed to help make Irving cleaner and greener from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 30 during Keep Irving Beautiful’s (KIB) Annual Trash Bash.
KIB is enlisting the support of individuals, groups and business organizations to make this year’s Trash Bash even bigger than last year. This year’s cleanup will be held at T.W. Richardson Grove Park, 333 E. Interstate 635 (LBJ), at the northeast corner of Valley View Lane and I-635.
KIB also will be hosting a canned food drive at the event. Participants that bring a canned or other nonperishable food item will receive a free event T-shirt, while supplies last. All food donations will go to Baptist Benevolent Ministries of Irving’s food pantry.
There is not a minimum age requirement for the cleanup, so everyone can participate, but it is limited to 600 volunteers. The cleanup celebrates a partnership among KIB and the Irving Parks and Recreation and Solid Waste Services departments. KIB will provide supplies such as litter pickers, trash and recycle bags, and gloves. Lunch will be provided after the cleanup.
Event organizers are asking for prospective participants to register by Sept. 22. To register or for more information, visit the KIB website or call (972) 721-2175.
