Volunteering at the Library


Are you looking for volunteer opportunities this summer?

Irving Public Libraries are seeking student volunteers for the upcoming summer season. High School students, ages 16 and up, can apply beginning May 1 by printing the online application, and returning it to their preferred Irving library location.

The library's busiest times are during the Summer Reading Challenge months. Preference will be given to applicants who are available for at least 6 weeks during June and July.  Students will help with a variety of tasks, including shelving and program assistance, materials maintenance, and as computer aides. All students will be required to attend an orientation session before receiving a schedule.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Minimum Age 16 (as of date of application).
  • Resident of the City of Irving - or - currently in attendance at a school located within Irving.
  • Possess a current Irving Public Library card in good standing.
  • Parent/Guardian permission will be required for students aged 16-17.

6:30 p.m. May 18, West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Rd.

5 p.m. May 19, Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail

6:30 p.m. May 23, South Irving Library

4 p.m. May 31, South Irving Library

3 p.m. June 1, Valley Ranch Library

11 a.m. June 2, West Irving Library
