The North Texas Teen Book Festival is almost ready to make its March 4 festival day schedule known to the public.
I have to admit I am a little jealous of all the fans of Young Adult and Middle Grade books who are going to have so much fun on this literary adventure. We are working around the clock for our epic program reveal in just a few short days. While I cannot give away the specifics, I can say you will have a difficult time choosing what to do and when, because the schedule is ENORMOUS and full of goodies for fans of the 81 authors, voice over actors and social media personalities coming to the event. If there’s an author you wish had been invited to the event, but didn’t see in our author reveals, check the Panel Moderators’ page in the program, because you may just find them volunteering for the festival this year.
How does one survive such a massive event with their sanity intact? Senior Library Assistant, Mary Hinson, our NTTBF17 spokesperson will be on Facebook Live every Monday morning leading up to the festival beginning Feb. 13 at 9:30 a.m. CST to tell you all her secrets, including Speed Dating info, and a run-through of the Festival program and some of the festival's newest features. Feb. 24 and March 3 are FAQ Fridays where Mary will go over Signing Lines and a tour of the Irving Convention Center.
Here are some other tips.
To get a jump start on the day, consider arriving early. Irving Convention Center doors open at 8 a.m., starting with book sales and wrist band distribution for Veronica Roth and R.L. Stine’s signing lines, and the teens-only Speed Date with a Book event. Next is a publisher "Meet and Greet" happening at 8:45 a.m. So, there are plenty of reasons to arrive before the official start at 9 a.m.
Some panels and activities offer free swag and ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) for attendees. Stop by the publisher booths and keep an eye out in the soon-to-be released festival program for publisher events that require wristbands. At the BookTube Panel you can see the young faces behind JessetheReader, LizzieLovesBooks, NayaReadsandSmiles, PeruseProject and WhittyNovels and snag some free NTTBF swag.
Familiarize yourself with our signing line rules prior to arriving on Festival Day. You can see the Barnes & Noble inventory list of items available for sale at the Festival while supplies last. Some of books for sale will be pre-signed.
It is going to be an epic day! Keep checking the North Texas Teen Book Festival website, nttbf.org for the full panel listing and other important updates.
