About Towne is a biweekly half-hour arts series that highlights Irving’s excellent local artists and craftsmen, entertainment venues and arts organizations. It also serves the viewing audience by publicizing upcoming concerts, performances, festivals and events.

A preview of MainStage Irving/Las Colinas’ “Sister Act.” Find out how the Perot TECH Truck “steamed” up the East Branch Library. And check out two great performances at the Irving Arts Center:  Southern Fried Circus and the Martial Artists and Acrobats of Tianjin. Plus, get the details of the Irving Schools Foundation’s Legacy Gala, Unite for Troops 2017 and the Allan Conner concert, continuing the Entertainment Series of Irving’s 62nd Anniversary Season.

This edition of About Towne is dedicated to U.S. Veterans and those in the Military. We’ll have highlights from the 2017 Veterans Day Observance. We’ll attend Unite for Troops 2018 and we’ll meet Irving Firefighter Lt. Eric Smith, whose bravery in Operation Iraqi Freedom earned him the Navy Cross. We’ll also find out how a missed phone call almost kept Lt. Smith from learning about his honor. Plus, we’ll get you ready for the holiday season with news on the City of Irving Holiday Extravaganza, Irving Police and Fire Blue Christmas and Momentum Dance Company’s annual production of the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker.”
