 Here are just a few available opportunities:  
  • Help people find their perfect pet by being an adoption counselor.
  • Take pets to offsite adoption events.
  • Greet people when they enter the shelter and help provide exceptional customer service.
  • Work with cats and dogs - walking, grooming, socializing and more.
  • Assist with writing pet biographies and taking photos.
  • And, yes, you can even do laundry and clean kennels!

If you are ready to become a volunteer:

  1. Sign waivers for Irving Animal Services and DFW Humane Society - DFW Humane Society trains volunteers for the Irving Animal Care Campus and volunteers can work with animals on both sides of the shelter.
  2. Complete a volunteer application - A $25 application fee is required which covers training costs and a volunteer t-shirt.
  3. Attend volunteer orientation - You will learn about our unique shelter and partnership with DFW Humane Society and receive hands-on training from a professional dog trainer to learn animal handling skills for working safely with our sheltered animals. A $10 fee will be collected on orientation day for the trainer's services.
