About the Department
The Transportation Department operates and maintains the city’s streets and traffic control devices. The department is split into two divisions: Streets and Traffic.

Streets Division
The Streets Division provides safe and well‐maintained streets, alleys, sidewalks and drainage facilities for the use of citizens and residents.

Traffic Division
The Traffic Division plans, operates and maintains the transportation systems within the city of Irving in a safe, efficient and proactive manner.

Notice: City Boundary Adjustment By Annexation

In cooperation with the City of Grand Prairie and Dallas County, the City of Irving will be adjusting the city limits to simplify legal jurisdiction and ownership of certain segments of MacArthur Boulevard and Hunter Ferrell Road which have been improved over the past several years.

Those segments include MacArthur Boulevard between Oakdale Road and the West Fork of the Trinity River, and Hunter Ferrell Road between MacArthur Boulevard and Belt Line Road, as shown on the maps below.

Public hearings regarding this annexation will be held at Irving City Council meetings on Oct. and Nov. 12.
